After the double round on Monday, yesterday the World Youth Chess Championship being held in Montevideo kept going. Tuesday as well as Wednesday are single-round days. Tomorrow, Thursday 21st will be rest day, when a wide variety of activities are scheduled.
In the open under-18, the lead is shared by IM Alexandr Triapishko, IM Luca Moroni and FM Venkataraman Karthik, with 3,5 pts of 4 in dispute.
In the female under-18, leaders are chinese Yao Lan and WIM from Puerto Rico Danitza Vázquez, both 3,5 pts.
In the open under-16, the only leader with the total of games won (4 out of 4) is the Romanian George Stoleriu. He is followed by FM Andrey Esipenko, Mitrabha Guha and Gonzalo Quirhuayo.
In the female under-16, the main favourite WIM Polina Shuvalova shares the top of the table with WIM Annie Wang, both with a 100% score.
In the open under-14, those in command are Daniel Kopylov from Germany and FM Batsuren Dambasuren from Mongolia.
In the female under-14, seven players share the first place: WCM Jyothsna L (India), FM Salimova Nurgyul (Bulgaria), WCM Mrudul Dehankar (India), WFM Nurgali Nazerke (Kazajistán), WFM Svitlana Demchenko (Canadá), WFM Assaubayeva Bibisara (Rusia) and WIM Solozhenkina Elizaveta (Rusia).
The tournament goes on today at 3 pm (-3 GMT) Montevideo hour, with round 4.
